Portscatho

Portscatho is a picturesque fishing village located on the south Cornish coast in Gerrans Bay on the Roseland peninsula. In the 18th. and 19th. century it was a busy pilchard fishing port and although on a much smaller scale it is still an active fishing port. The beach and rocky areas around the beach are inviting to the photographer along with the narrow streets of the village itself. There is a car park just outside the village overlooking the sea from where the walk into the village and harbour area is approximately 400 metres. Just above Portscatho is the village of Gerrans where there is another car park but the 600 metre walk to Portscatho is down a hill with the inevitable return journey up the hill. There are toilet facilities in Portscatho near the harbour.
