South Phoenix Mine Engine House

The South Phoenix Mine engine house is located just outside the village of Minions high up on Bodmin Moor. When the South Phoenix copper and tin mine re-opened in 1882 it had this new pumping engine at Houseman's shaft and its pumping engine was the last big pumping engine made in Cornwall by Holman's at Camborne. The engine house is now The Minions Heritage Centre. As well as the engine house the surrounding area has a lot to interest photographers. Please see the Minions page for more information.

The car park at the north eastern side of Minions is the closest to the engine house as it is a level walk of only 150 metres. There are toilet facilities in the village of Minions.
