Holywell Bay

Holywell Bay has a half mile long beach of golden sand and is located on the north Cornish coast mid way between Newquay and Perranporth. The name Holywell is thought to stem from the presence of a well at the location and this source of water apparantly had healing properties. At either end of the beach the granite cliffs provide much interest for photography and like most Cornish north coast beaches the sunsets can be stunning. Unlike Bedruthan Steps, with an incoming tide it is possible to retreat to the sand dunes so less chance of getting cut off by the tide. There is a large National Trust car park with toilet facilities nearby and easy access to the beach.
