Helman Tor

Helman Tor is located approximately 2.5 miles south of Bodmin and overlooks Redmoor and Breney Common which is home to the marsh fritillary butterfly, a protected species under British law. Small scale excavations carried out in the 1970's confirmed the site has Neolithic origins. At the summit of Helman Tor large areas of granite are exposed and this presents excellent subject matter for the photographer and with distant views in all directions a ready made backdrop. Access to the car park is via narrow country lanes and the car park itself is only a small rough patch of ground.
